Blue-BrainToday I want to stress on the importance of gaining favor with our subconscious. The reason I say “gaining favor” is because control is not something we actually do with our subconscious minds.

Instead, what we consciously do is program the subconscious over time. So we never really have direct control over the subconscious but everything it does is based on all our thoughts. Our external experiences do play an obvious role, but it’s very important to understand that our internal thoughts are what ultimately shape the subconscious program.

The subconscious part of our brain is the largest and most primitive (in terms of brain structures that lend us human capacities). It literally acts like a computer and fetches and stores data. Experiences might be happening regardless of our conscious desire for them or not, but the subconscious only gives programming precedence to the thoughts that follow those experiences.

You might think of it this way – the subconscious is the average type of computer we use today while the conscious mind is the AI (Artificial Intelligence) computing system that feeds that average, subconscious data-cruncher all the data. The conscious mind decides how to interpret an event and it’s the subconscious minds job to collect that interpretation and store it.

Of course, the subconscious doesn’t automatically give reign to the next, best, great idea you consciously come up with – that would be a dangerous move, in a very general sense. So the subconscious is actually designed to grow synaptic structures only to those things that have gained precedence and prevalence.

What do I mean by that?

It means that the brain matter of your subconscious only begins changing its program when something in the conscious mind becomes the higher priority and is sustained at that level of priority for a duration of time. The time required to start the change does vary with respect to the intensity of the thoughts in question.

So if you want to change your subconscious, begin by choosing your thoughts deliberately, giving them priority and thinking about them constantly, while engaging in those thoughts with intensity and emotion.

Be careful and mindful of your self-talk though, because this is the automatic response you’ve created for yourself – and it’s this area we want to change. We seldomly notice this part of us consciously because it’s the one doing the talking, which is you. And that is so closely related to our very being that we most often only project our thoughts from this perspective and rarely examine it.

I’ll speak more about this in particular in another post because this is another topic all on its own. Here I just want to focus on our understanding of the subconscious mind.

So, follow the guidelines I just spoke about and you will soon find your life changing before your very eyes… Because your new subconscious programs will see things differently, and so respond differently, and will have an automatic response that is more congruent with your desires and from that, joy and happiness are a product.

To help crystallize this into a daily practice, I scoured YouTube and found this video that echoes what I’m expressing here. I personally condone the explanation in this video. The only thing I would have said differently is when he begins to speak about “force your brain to work in your favor” and “get to work brain”.

The process is not one in which your brain has formal control and some conscious aspect needs to give it direction and force its repurposing. More accurately we should realize that consciousness itself is the primal factor in all of this. What I’m basically saying is we don’t tell our brains to do something different – we ourselves are the only thing that we need to direct and control. The brain is the organic compound that simply follows those directions. It disseminates what we consciously propagate.

So watch this video and follow the guidelines I spoke about above.
